Sabine Grofmeier, who was born in Marl, Germany, studied
with Hans-Dietrich Klaus and Frits Hauser in Detmold, Stefan Schilling
in Graz, Austria, and Eduard Brunner in Saarbrücken. She received
additional artistic tutoring from renowned soloists, including Sabine
Meyer, Wolfgang Meyer, Ralph Manno, Ulf Rodenhäuser, Kjell Fageus
and Thomas Friedli.
Holder of the Young Artist Award of the GWK in Münster, Sabine Grofmeier
held scholarships at the Stiftung Villa Musica of the State of Rheinland-Pfalz,
at the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), the Richard Wagner
Society, and the Schwetzinger Festspiele.
As solo clarinetist Sabine Grofmeier performed with the Junge Deutsche
Philharmonie, Philharmonia of the Nations, and the Orchestra Academy of
Bayerischer Rundfunk under the direction of Hans Zender, Justus Frantz,
Seymon Bychkov, and Dimitri Kitajenko. Since 2000 she has appeared as
solo clarinetist with the Klassische Philharmonie Bonn and the Kölner
Kammerorchester. She has also been a regular guest with the Radio-Sinfonieorchester
Saar-brücken, the Ensemble Musikfabrik NRW, Gürzenich-Orchester
Köln, and Düsseldorfer Philharmoniker.
Sabine Grofmeier has given solo concerto performances in the most prestigious
German concert halls, including Laieszhalle Hamburg, Glocke in Bremen,
Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt, Berlin, Großer NDR-Sendesaal Hannover,
Meister-singerhalle Nuremberg, Beethoven-halle Bonn, Liederhalle Stuttgart,
Herkulessaal in Munich. The clarinetist has worked as a soloist, chamber
musician, and as a teacher in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Israel, Great
Britain, Spain, Sweden, France, Australia. Since 2007 Sabine Grofmeier
has been the artistic director of the Festival Musical International Capdepera
in Mallorca, Spain.

Tra Nguyen was born in Hanoi, Vietnam. At the age of
ten she made her solo debut in her hometown. Since then she has frequently
been guest soloist of the major symphony orchestras in Vietnam. In 1987,
she moved to Moscow to receive further training with several distinguished
pedagogues, among them Irina Naumova and Lev Naumov. After graduating
from the Moscow Conservatoire with top honours, she moved to London to
pursue her post graduate studies with Christopher Elton at the Royal Academy
of Music. She has also attended master classes with Peter Frankl, Arnaldo
Cohen, Hamish Milne, and Alexander Satz.
Tra Nguyen has been awarded many prizes and accolades, including 1st prize
of the Amy Brant International Piano Competition and the Walter MacFarren
Prize from the Royal Academy of Music. She has given numerous solo recitals,
chamber concerts and concerto performances in Vietnam, Russia, Poland,
Sweden, Norway, Italy, Spain, the U.S.A., Germany, and the UK.
